Specialist Power Products

Magnus Power bespoke 400Hz Power Supply Unit Shown opposite is a typical custom power supply. Our customer for this unit wanted a number of 400Hz outputs from connectors of an unusual type already in use on his premises, with adjustable overvoltage and undervoltage protection, a circuit breaker for each output, and optional RCD protection.

We modified one of our programmable LP3 converters to provide fixed voltage fixed frequency output, and built it into a mobile cabinet. Addition of a special distribution panel resulted in a finished system which met all of our customer's wishes. The main thrust of our business is the manufacture and supply of frequency converters.  However, we are quite often asked for a specialist dc power supply, and we are always keen to help where we can.

Rather than re-invent the wheel, we will buy in a chassis-mounting component supply from a dc power specialist, and use our own prototype wiremen to build it into an instrument case with switches, metering and connectors to our customer's requirements.   Magnus Power - Power Distribution We have supplied many different types of these units to aerospace customers, for use with ground-based equipment.  In each case the requirement has been for a unit with a very specific electrical capability, often needing to fit into a defined space envelope, and to harmonise with other equipment.
There is rarely any need for complex electronics, all that the application needs is a high quality ac power product.

  Magnus Power Subsea Controller

Our long-standing relationship with our parent company (Aker Kvaerner Subsea Ltd) is based on their need for Electrical Power Units (EPU) to supply stable power at a finely-adjustable voltage, and often at a non-standard frequency, to subsea process control equipment associated with offshore installations.

We pride ourselves on rarely saying no, and our sales team will always be glad to discuss a requirement for a voltage stabiliser, or an inverter, or just about anything else in ac power products.  If we cannot provide the required product ourselves, then we probably know someone who can.
